We’re delighted to announce that the ZNS names will soon open for registration! ZKSpace name service reduces lengthy wallet addresses to readable names ending with .zks. In this article, we’ll guide you through the registration process and the usage of .zks domain names.
To avoid domain name hoarding after the sale opens, we have been giving WL spots to community numbers and partners, and only open registration to WL users. If you have participated in our Twitter and Discord activities and got yourself on the WL, congratulations that you’ll soon become one of the first batch of users owing a.zks name! After 7 AM UTC Oct 12th, 2022, you can navigate to ZKSpace - Layer-2 FOR ALL and start registration!
Once you own ZNS names, you can set reverse resolution, pointing your Ethereum address to a name and displaying the .zks name as your username on ZKSpace. Using a .ETH name as Twitter profile name has been a hot trend, and once you own a .zks name, you can also add it to your Twitter profile!
Anyone who sees your .zks name can send you ERC 20 tokens by simply entering yourname.zks in the address field of ZKSpace L2 wallet - Send. Thanks to the underlying ZK-Rollup technology, token transfer on ZKSpace costs neglectable fee and is super fast,and the launch of ZNS erases the possibilities of typos and furthers the efficiency of fund sending. By using the Batch Send mode, you can even send funds to up to 60 addresses with one click.
How to register a ZNS name
Connect ZKSpace to the wallet you’d like to have own the name, and make sure that you have at least the amount of ETH, USDT, ZKS or WBTC in your Layer 2 wallet to cover your name’s annual fee.
Navigate to the ZNS homepage. Type your desired .zks name into the search bar and click Search.
If the domain name is Available, click on it and you’ll be directed to a page where you can use the - and + buttons to select how many years you’d like to register.
If you register for 2 consecutive years or more, you will enjoy a 20% discount on the total price For renewals of 2 years or more, you will also enjoy a 20% discount.
If you register directly for 3 years or more, you can buy out the domain name (If the total term after renewal reaches or exceeds 3 years, you can also buy out the domain name). The name will belong to you forever.
Click Unlock Wallet and confirm the transaction in your wallet. Once the transaction is finished, your name is registered!
What if the domain name I like is already registered?
You can favorite domain names by clicking on the 
button (whether registered or not). You can view all your favorite domains in Favorites.
What can you do with your .zks domain name?
View
You can view your domain names in My Account, where you can also set reverse resolution or extend your registration period. By clicking View on Explorer, you’ll be directed to the account details page which displays your ZNS domain name assets.
We have also added a ZNS tab to the ZKSpace Explorer, where you can view all registered ZNS domain names and the details.
Reverse resolution - Display your .zks name!
To help show your personal brand, ZKSpace provides a domain name reverse resolution function to point your wallet address to one .zks name you designate. Once reverse resolution is enabled, your domain name will be displayed on various locations which previously show your Ox… Layer 2 address.
There are two ways to set reverse resolution. The first way is to click the toggle button on the name details page:
Because you can only use one ZNS name as your username, if you, for example, have enabled reverse resolution for aaa.zks, the toggle button for bbb.zks will be automatically turned off.
The second way is to go to My Account and click on Reverse Resolution as shown below. Choose which .zks name you want to associate with your current wallet address in the dropdown menu. Click Confirm, and you’re all set!
Transfer
After you pay the fees and register the domain name, you become the registrant. The registrant cannot be changed until the domain name expires (the domain name will be reclaimed by the system after it expires, and can be re-registered by anyone).
The registrant automatically becomes the first controller of the domain name. The controller has the editing right of the domain name and can change the record information. The controllers can view all the domain names they control in My Account, or can freely transfer the domain name to other users. You can transfer your domain name by clicking on Transfer on the domain details page. After the transfer, the domain name belongs to the new address, and the controller changes accordingly.
Extend registration
You can renew the domain name you own in My Account. You can also extend the registration for any domain names on their details page (Renewal does not change the controller of the domain name).
